The role
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual motivated to gain experience in the rural development sector and actively engage in a variety of projects and initiatives.
We are looking for a committed, self-driven male Hindi speaker with a background and/or experience in teaching, motivated to work both on the field and in office.
Main responsibilities include:
· Lead and assist in the planning, logistics, implementation and monitoring of Gender Sensitivity workshops directed to male adolescents in Government schools and colleges
· Plan, execute and monitor Jan Seva initiative, a community program which connects citizens to government and private welfare schemes
· Create and/or provide support in the creation of high quality presentations, pitches, financial documents, reporting and communication materials
· Contribute to grant research, grant writing and partnership development
· Assist in translation (Hindi-English) when needed
· Assist in execution of onsite project activities according to skill and interest (teaching, awareness work, business development, program planning and optimisation, etc.)
· Be involved in other tasks as required
Desired skills and experience:
· Bachelor's or Master's Degree in related topic (Education, Sustainable Development, International Cooperation, etc.) or previous experience in a relevant field or demonstrated interest in these fields
· Excellent written and oral skills in English and Hindi (knowledge of Bhojpuri will be considered an advantage)
· Strong command of Word, Powerpoint and Excel. Knowledge of design softwares a bonus
· Willingness to combine field and office work
· Excellent research, communication and management skills
· Proactivity, creativity, commitment and flexibility
· Ability to work individually and as part of an international, multi-disciplinary team
· Willingness to live and work in rural India, in shared accommodation
· Ability to connect to people and genuine passion for rural development
Duration: from the beginning July 2019 onwards; candidates should be able to commit for a minimum of 6 months (longer preferred).
The role entails working and living onsite at our Community Centre, located in a remote rural area of the Kushingar District, in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Shared onsite accommodation with domestic staff (cooking and laundry covered), modern facilities, solar energy, clean water and internet is provided at no cost. A monthly stipend is offered.
