The key objectives of the consultancy are:

  • To develop and enhance understanding of Business Writing, Report Writing and Business Reporting Language (BRL).
  • Examine the current workplace practices and make recommendations and practical suggestions to address gaps and weaknesses in current practices.
  • Equip staff with writing skills through short exercises and training/writing samples.
  • Tasks

    Deliverables

    Timeframe (indicative number of days)

    1

    To design a 2-day training outline, agenda and training handouts which include lecture and practice exercises

  • A training outline, agenda shared with UNICEF (HRD) for inputs and comments before the training takes place.
  • Assess each staff on their writing skills and provide feedback to support them identify their gaps.
  • Training materials including handouts and soft files shared with participants.
  • 3 days

    To facilitate a 2-day training on effective writing skills for staff of UNICEF ECO office.

  • A 2-day training workshop facilitated
  • Exercise conducted for participants to prepare, practice and demonstrate the skills taught.
  • 2 days (planned for July 2019)

    Training report

  • Summary report that incorporates feedback and recommendations shared with individual participants for further improvement and practice after the assessment.
  • 2 days

    4

    Follow up assignments

    - Provide assignment for each staff

    - Providing evaluation report for each assignment and for each staff

    3 days (extended in three months' time)

    10 days

    7.Qualifications and experience required:

    The institution or individuals should have a variety of skill sets for the training and the following qualifications:

  • A profile of trainers with advanced degree in communication and writing or related field.
  • At least 8 years professional and institutional experience in development, teaching and training in communication and advocacy.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of best practices in communication; and demonstrated experience in writing/training for public, non-profit, or international development sectors, in communication and advocacy or human resource development.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, with experience developing and delivering innovative and interesting training programmes.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of UNICEF reporting guidelines, language and stylebook.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Both institution and individual consultant are required to submit a technical and financial proposal outlining the proposed ideas/methodologies, describe the comparative advantage to undertake the assignment, provide samples and references of past relevant work, CV(s) of proposed trainers, etc.
