About Blossom
Blossom is a grassroots non-profit organisation founded in 1993 in Tamil Nadu, India. Blossom is working towards the personal, social and economic development of disadvantaged and marginalized members of the community – especially children. The projects and activities of Blossom Trust fall into four main areas of focus:
Health: Community-based prevention and care of tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, and Diabetes
Children: Working to up hold the rights of disadvantaged children; ensuring access to health and education services
Environment and Agriculture: Projects related to water reclamation and organic farming
LGBTQ rights and community empowerment

What We're Looking For
Blossom Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Grant Writing Officer Intern to help us develop our operations in both existing and new projects alike and to achieve a greater outreach in doing so. While grant writing will be your main responsibility, the ideal candidate will also be required to maintain a strong social media presence and market the charity through a variety of means. At the moment our priority projects focus on: A new and upcoming LGBTQ community project, diabetes & tuberculosis care and support and DaySpring Home, Blossoms Orphanage that houses 30 children . Any specific experience in the aforementioned areas would be preferred.
It is important that you have analytical and problem-solving skills, a strong attention to detail and are able to work under pressure with minimum supervision. You will work in a small team, but be primarily self-directed and adaptable to ever-changing situations.

You will work alongside the Grant Writing Coordinator, the Office Coordinator, Communications intern and the director of Blossom, Mercy Annapoorni.
Duration & Start Date
The successful candidate will be based in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, on a full-time basis (9:30-6:30, Monday to Saturday ) for a minimum period of 3 months starting in late November or early December 2018. Longer stays are welcome, please state your preference in the cover letter.
Role and Responsibilities
The work you will be entrusted with is crucial to the success of Blossom Trust.
Organizational Skills are a must ! You may be working on several projects at once under tight deadlines.
Research: Each proposal begins with research. To develop a proposal, you must familiarize yourself with our programs goals and financial needs as well as current trends and best practices in the development field.
Planning: Develop and track internal calendar of donor deadlines for reporting, proposals, and other engagements. Identify relevant funding opportunities, flag requests for proposals and other grant opportunities.
Prepare: Concept papers, donor reports and, financial budget attachments.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Human Rights or a related field
Research experience in an academic or professional context
Keen analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail
Proficient fluency in written English, with verbal communication
Highly motivated self-starter, able to work on own initiative with minimal oversight, efficiently and prioritize workload
Able to work well in a small team and to maintain effective working relationships in a multicultural environment
Desirable:
Master’s degree in a relevant field
