India: Enterprise Development Specialist

Chemonics seeks an enterprise development specialist for the anticipated USAID-funded Forest-PLUS II project in India. The project aims to provide technical assistance that supports the Government of India (GoI) and other stakeholders to manage India’s forests as important components of broad-based, inclusive and sustainable economic growth that meet local needs and addresses global environmental challenges. The enterprise development specialist will lead Objective 3 of the project focused on developing forest and non-forest-based enterprises. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Objective 3 to develop forest and non-forest-based enterprises;
  • Identify viable economic opportunities among forest-based and farm-based value chains that will reduce and reverse forest degradation from unsustainable harvest;
  • Strengthen enterprises within selected value chains and will facilitate both public and private partnerships that take the selected value chains to scale.

    Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or MBA in a relevant field required;

  • 8 years of relevant field experience in enterprise development (including marketing) based on forest and farm-based value chains;

  • Demonstrated understanding of the linkages between forest conservation and forest-based enterprises;

  • Proven experience in developing business development services;

  • Proven experience in facilitating Public Private Partnership and leveraging investments;

  • Demonstrated experience in capacity building activities related to value chains, enterprises and marketing in low capacity environments;

  • Ability to manage a diverse team of technical and management experts and to interface with various stakeholders ranging from government to non-government organizations, donors and beneficiaries;

  • Experience of engaging women and youth in economic enterprise preferred;

  • Experience working in donor funded projects of similar scope and budget;

  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
