Senior Technical Advisor (STA) Market Dynamics | New Delhi, India | 2023

Chemonics seeks a Market Dynamics portfolio lead for the ongoing USAID Frontier Health Markets Engage project in India. Building on over 30 years of USAID investment, FHM Engage focuses on strengthening local health markets by addressing the root causes of market failures in the core market functions to create the necessary behavior change that catalyzes supply and demand and supports sustainable change. The Market Dynamics STA is a long-term position for leading analytical efforts to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape within the contraception and women health care industry. This position will liaise with a variety of high-level stakeholders to translate research insights into business strategies and product roadmaps that drive growth and market share. In the initial days, the position will work with other team members to draft Scope of Work and activity description for India implementing partners and finalize them in coordination with Chemonics’ Partnerships Team. This position will be based in New Delhi, India. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

This position is expected to initially take the form of a full-time consultancy for initial months. Depending on local regulatory constraints, it is expected that the position will shift into a longer-term salaried role afterwards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive analysis of contraceptive market to understand customer needs, preferences, and behavior patterns. Facilitate market segmentation and research to identify market trends, competitive landscape, and potential areas of growth
  • Analyze market data and research findings to provide insights to cross-functional teams, including supply, demand and quality management and market place aggregator
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop product/service roadmaps, feature prioritization, and go-to-market strategies that align with customer needs and market trends.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry experts, analysts, and influencers to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.
  • Execute targeted skilling initiatives for country implementing partners on market development approaches (MDA), providing technical leadership, and engaging directly with key market development staff.
  • Developing and facilitating market development workshops, including digital-enabled remote workshops and workshops with multidiscipline and cross-sector stakeholders.
  • Developing program reports, success stories, and other knowledge products related to MDA, including, as required, dissemination of key products.
  • Following up with prospective partners on scheduling, attending the meetings, documenting the discussions and framing the analysis for annual workplan development
  • Developing power point presentations in discussions with AOR and Mission Teams
  • Drafting the SoW and activity description for local partner organizations in India and work with the PMU and HQ Partnerships Team to create teaming and partnering arrangements
  • Track the tasks for developing workplan activities, based on each objective in the mission SOW
  • Support the development of technical requirements in other job descriptions, and coordinate with the program management unit (PMU), assist with the advertisement and recruitment process

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Business, Healthcare Marketing, Market Research, Value Chain analysis or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in market research, product/service marketing, or related field, with a focus on the technology/digital industry.
  • Proven track record of conducting market research, analyzing data, and translating insights into actionable strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex data and research findings into concise, actionable insights.
  • Expert knowledge and experience applying market development approaches
  • Experience developing theories of change
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong facilitation skills with multidisciplinary, international groups
  • Experience developing USAID workplans and budgets
  • Experience cooperating with multiple partners to collaborate on a scope of work.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely in both verbal and written communications; strong cross-culture communication skills
  • Skilled with Microsoft office programs, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; and other data management and analysis tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring a high degree of communication and ability to meet deadlines.
  • May require working hours outside of India business hours in order to communicate and collaborate with partners in the USA
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
