India: Education Program Manager for Rural India

United for Hope is an international NGO with roots in Germany, registration in India, and most recently the USA. We have been working in Kushinagar District of Uttar Pradesh, India since 2014 to create long-lasting change in the lives of the rural poor following a Smart Village model.

We work in cooperation with the social enterprise Shakti Empowerment Solutions (SES) (https://shaktiempowerment.com) whereby we are committed to social change through social entrepreneurship. We offer a modern-thinking, mixed Western-Indian environment with respect and equality as our core values.

For the launch and expansion of our ambitious education programs for all community members we are looking for an Education Program Manager (Hindi speaker advantage) for the following tasks located in our community center in the village of Tirmasahun (30 mins from Kushinagar, UP):

· Lead the implementation of education projects by developing project plans, and supporting stakeholders to achieve our goals - focus on ESL, Computers, Vocational Training & Women's Empowerment including Menstrual Hygiene

· Proactively monitor and report on projects’ progress, resolve issues, and initiate appropriate corrective action with stakeholders

· Design and develop new programs (including curriculum content) to support the strategic direction of the organization, as well as create evaluation metrics for any ongoing and future projects

· Evaluate and restructure programs to ensure project goals are achieved

· Responsible for identifying potential funding partner organizations in India and abroad and writing proposals as well as creating reports for current funders

· Responsible for supervising support staff, interns and volunteers to ensure smooth running of the projects

· Some teaching English, basic computers and women’s empowerment topics, menstrual hygiene workshops (females only) & business basics skills in all education projects (children, young adults & adults) as well as developing and leading teacher training workshops in the district

· General support to the Director when required in all operational matters

The Education Program Manager needs the following skills:

· At least 3 years’ experience in teaching or similar preferably English language teaching

· Preference given to those with experience in educational program management

· Excellent written and spoken skills in English (Hindi speaker is an asset). Interviews will be held in English. Daily communication with stakeholders is in Hindi, translation support will be provided

· Outstanding communication and networking skills

· Track record of working as an effective people manager who can give and receive constructive feedback and handle differences of opinion and approach

· Able to work independently with ambiguity and take responsible and effective decisions

· Capable of setting priorities and working under pressure as well as

change priorities at short notice and learn from a variety of challenging situations

· High computer literacy - Microsoft Office, research and report writing skills

· Proactive, creative, industrious and flexible character

· Most importantly - genuine interest in social progress and willingness to serve an organization for the benefit of the poor. Experience with working with an NGO a bonus

We offer safe, modern onsite accommodation for a single person. Cooking, domestic and laundry staff are available. Modern facilities including internet, onsite water plant, 24/ 7 solar energy, garden and terrace area are provided. Due to budgeting constraints, salary is modest but will grow as funding security grows. At least one year commitment required. May suit someone on a sabbatical or looking for a change in direction.
