GAIN’s purpose is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving the consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition. In particular, we aim to improve the consumption of safe and nutritious foods for—at a minimum—1 billion people over the next five years and target major improvements to food systems, resulting in more diverse and healthier diets for vulnerable people in countries where we work. GAIN Kenya has been operational in the country since 2010 and has received funding to continue and upscale its country programs at least until 2020.
We are seeking to deploy a Junior Associate, India Country Programme to support the India Country Office, KL team, and new proposed project teams and activities in operational and administrative backstopping. Reporting to the Country Director of India, you will be required to assist project teams in producing documents, briefing papers, reports, and presentations and managing the administrative and operations on a day-to-day basis. This will include, managing purchase orders (with local vendors), travel Logistics and co-ordination with Travel agents and manging the office on a daily basis. You will also be required to participate in recruitment and contract activity including the hiring of new staff and managing contracting and invoicing consultants and service providers. As part of the role, you will be assisting with preparation of budgets, workplans, and other reports for internal and external audiences and drafting of documents, presentations, and communication materials as requested for internal and external audiences.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, writing and presentation skills and be organised and efficient at problem solving. The candidate will be required to have knowledge of public health, global health, international development or related topics. You must have hands-on experience in operational and administrative backstopping for projects of various sizes and scopes.
