BACKGROUND:
RedR is a membership based organisation that enables members to use their professional skills to help others in a practical way and make a humanitarian contribution. The members of RedR's registers form a unique body of highly motivated and competent individuals who can be called upon at very short notice to strengthen the response of front-line humanitarian agencies. Members are carefully interviewed and selected for their personal and professional qualities. An unprecedented rise in the demand for surge capacity by humanitarian actors, worldwide has seen a many fold increase in RedR India’s assignments and membership operations. Demand from humanitarian sector could be attributed to the recurrence of complex disasters, growing emphasis on accountability of humanitarian agencies and enhanced perception of the need to do DRR work in the country and region.
This position is specifically created to cater to the growing recruitment needs in a more effective and efficient manner, and sustain the momentum of membership development and support. The position will also focus coordination of all operations and functions relating to the roster portfolio and streamline internal processes. The duality in this role of operational and programmatic tasks is key to the efficient and effective working of RedR India’s roster and human resources.
DIMENSIONS:
· Independently maintaining and organising roster operations and resources, including people and assets.
· Coordination with diverse RedR client agencies and identifying new client agencies for deployments.
· Providing professional advice to senior managers on areas of work covered in their remit.
· Influencing the development of various strategies to implement RedR’s mandate and ensuring and supporting operational implementation of Membership, Recruitment Services and Human Resources of RedR.
· Streamline and strengthening of RedR’s staffing and human resource management related policies, processes, guidelines and others as emergent.
KeyResponsibilities:
· Coordinate and support the RedR membership process and recruitment services as per standard procedures of RedR.
· Consolidate and enhance the RedR India Membership database for better user interface and utility for surge requirements.
· Supporting the Learning and Development portfolio to assist the Training and Projects portfolio on all membership interactions and contributions.
· Supporting the Communications portfolio as required with concepts, notes, writings and membership related information and work.
· Liaison between RedR and Humanitarian client agencies on operational matters relating to deployments
· Promoting & marketing RedR’s roster and Deployment portfolio with the Learning and Partnership team and Executive Director.
· Ensuring timely development of ToRs for internal and external recruitments and surge deployments.
· Working closely and assisting the Operations and HR Manager in periodic performance reviews of staff, recruitment and contracting of staff and other staff management matters as emergent.
· Working closely with the operations and programmes team to develop and/or evolve contractual documents of RedR India for diverse categories of personnel.
· Personal preparedness in terms of knowledge, understanding and perspective on humanitarian work and health, safety and security (including insurance) of humanitarian workers.
· To report regularly, verbally and in writing to designated line managers.
· To be familiar with and abide by humanitarian and HR quality and accountability principles.
· Supporting RedR India functions and other responsibilities, as deemed fit by the Executive Director.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:
· Previous work experience of programme service management (human resources, information management) in commercial, industrial, emergency and/or development context is desirable
· A good working knowledge of human resource management, technical and soft skills, is essential
· Excellent personnel management skills, with the ability to demonstrate skills in coordinating a multi-disciplined, highly skilled multi-cultural team in multiple locations.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations.
· Diplomacy, tact and negotiation skills
· Analytical and strategic planning skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities
· Computer literacy, good written and spoken English is essential.
· Sympathy with the aims and objectives of RedR.
