Position Title: Consultant (Block Programme Coordinator)

PRADAN registered in 1983 under Societies Act 1860, is today regarded as India’s foremost NGO working on rural transformation. Today our work directly impacts over four million people in over 7,000 villages across seven of India’s poorest states and many more by assisting about 70 NGOs and various government agencies at all levels.

Today PRADAN provides opportunities for educated young people and development professionals to engage with the village and rural communities through grassroots action to transform India. We are seeking professionals with experience of working with rural communities on Health and Nutrition as Consultants (multiple positions) to support PRADAN operations across 7 states.

No of positions: Multiple

Location: Block towns (as per project need)

Description of the work:

The consultant will be engaged in coordinating the implementation of the project at the block level, in consultation with the PRADAN team. He/she will be responsible for imparting trainings to SHGs and various other community structures like Village Organisations (VOs) and their sub-committees. S/he would be responsible for documentation of project rollout activities, preparing daily diaries, monthly reporting of rollouts, preparing case studies/ success studies related to the project implementation, effective planning of the rollouts in engagement with the PRADAN team, village institutions and the women collectives.

The person will be directly engaged with the community, thus will need to have excellent community mobilisation skills to ensure the deliverables of the project implementation plan.

Qualification and experience

Essential:

  • Postgraduate in public health, health & nutrition, social sciences or in related field
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in planning, training and evaluation of large-scale health & nutrition programmes
  • Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and support the Team Co-ordinators in programme management
  • Understanding of village institutions and experience of working directly with the rural community institutions like SHG’s.
  • Working with frontline workers and experience with and knowledge of government health and nutrition programmes will be an added advantage.
  • Work in a collaborative spirit with other team members at all levels
  • Experience working in the field of nutrition/women and child health.

Under exceptional circumstances and in the case of meritorious candidates, the above guidelines can be relaxed.
