Blossom is a grassroots non-profit organisation founded in 1993 in Tamil Nadu, India. Blossom is working towards the personal, social and economic development of disadvantaged and marginalised members of the community – especially women and children. The projects and activities of Blossom Trust fall into four main areas of focus:
- Health: Community-based prevention and care of tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS
- Economic empowerment: Helping socially marginalised women to become economically self-sufficient
- Children: Working to up hold the rights of disadvantaged children; ensuring access to health and education services

What We're Looking For
Blossom Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Archive Digitisation intern or volunteer to take charge of digitising our institutional records. This is the perfect opportunity for a student or recent graduate looking to gain experience working with a human rights NGO based in a developing country.
The successful applicant will sort and organise Blossom Trust’s extensive paper records, digitise them, design and create an efficient storage systems for both the paper and digital records. Paper records will be stored in the Blossom Trust Headquaters Office, while digital records will be kept on a cloud based storage platform (Google Drive or similar) and backed up on an external hard drive. He/she will need to be familiar with our past and present programmes and operations to identify how each file will fit into the system.
Depending on the progression of the digitisation project, and day to day needs of the organisation, the Archive Digitisation intern/volunteer may also be asked to help with other tasks such as office administration, social media, research or fundraising.
This position requires keen analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision. You will work in a small team, but be primarily self-directed and adaptable to ever-changing situations.

The successful applicant will work alongside the other Grant Writing intern, the Office Coordination intern and the director of Blossom, Mercy Annapoorni.
Duration & Start Date
The successful candidate will be based in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, on a full-time basis (9:30-6:30, Monday to Friday) for a minimum of 4 months, beginning in August 2018. Longer stays are welcome; please state your preferred duration in the cover letter.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Archives and Records Management, International Relations, Development Studies, Human Rights or a related field
- Experience with cloud based storage solutions
- Research experience in an academic or professional context
- Keen analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail
- Fluency in written and spoken English, with strong written and verbal communication
- Highly motivated self-starter, able to work on own initiative with minimal oversight, efficiently organise and prioritise workload
- Able to work well in a team and to maintain effective working relationships in a multicultural environment.
Desirable:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience in digitising records and creating digital archives
- Proficiency in an additional language
