VALIDITY OF ROSTER: FOUR YEARS
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATION SUBMISSION: 7 May 2018
1. BACKGROUND:
Globally, UNICEF works with nearly 200 Goodwill Ambassadors to increase public awareness of the rights of children and women and UNICEF's work in protecting those rights. In the nearly 50 years since celebrities began working with UNICEF, they have helped sway government policies on behalf of children, publicize children's issues around the globe and raise funds for UNICEF-supported programmes.
High profile supporters in India (from the world of film / music / theatre / sports) have a strong national and regional appeal. They can play a significant role in helping UNICEF to create public awareness on children’s issues. Also their involvement can mobilize action and resources from civil society, thereby sending a message that children are an urgent priority. In UNICEF India, there is a consistent demand from the state offices, programme sections, government partners, NYHQ as well as other UN agencies to mobilize existing national ambassadors as well as identifying new celebrity advocates for diverse advocacy and communication opportunities, such as events, presence in ads, statements, part of panel discussions , field visits etc.
2. PURPOSE:
UNICEF is trying to build a pool of pre-qualified high-caliber candidates to be hired as ‘Celebrity Coordination Consultants’, from which UNICEF country office and different state offices can quickly select and fill a requirement through a faster contracting process as soon as a need is identified.
Candidates who meet the required qualifications and experience are invited to apply following which a desk review of their skills and experience will be done to determine whether they qualify for the Celebrity Coordination Consultants roster. The process will ensure all candidates in the Roster Group are evaluated prior to recommendation for a specific consultancy opportunity. Successful candidates will be notified and placed in the Celebrity Coordination Consultant Roster for a four (4)year period. However, engagement of identified consultants for specific assignments would be as per the terms and conditions specified in the contract entered into.
The Roster of Celebrity Coordination Consultants, once in place, will allow the colleagues from Communications, Advocacy and Partnerships (CAP) programme to select three or more potential candidates from the roster for further appraisal and selection of one candidate, rather than going through a formal advertisement process for each consultancy assignment.Ideally, this will expedite the placement of consultants (both short term and long term) and also provide the supervisor the scope to choose from a vast pool of potential candidates with communications and advocacy background. In this context, should the currently on-board consultants with UNICEF be interested in being considered for future opportunities with UNICEF, they need to apply to the roster.
