Founded in 2002, by President William J. Clinton and Ira C. Magaziner, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. ("CHAI") is a global health organization committed to saving lives, reducing the burden of disease and strengthening integrated health systems in the developing world.
CHAI India is working with the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) towards an ambitious vision of a TB Free Chennai. Under this vision, the Corporation aims to develop a comprehensive service delivery model for rapidly achieving increased case detection and reduced TB mortality. The Corporation's vision will be realized through the support and collaboration of several donors and partners providing technical and implementing support. CHAI has seconded a Technical Support Group (TSG) to the Corporation to support strategy development and implementation as well as overall consortium coordination. CHAI is also engaged in conducting primary research on drivers of patient and provider behavior, to generate insights that will support the implementation of the TB Free Chennai Initiative.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials for the role of Research Associate. S/He must be able to function independently and flexibly and have a strong commitment to excellence. S/He will: work under the guidance of the TSG Program Manager; work closely with other key strategic partners to lead the behavior research activities, which are fundamental to successfully improving the design of the TB Free Chennai Initiative; and lead pilot initiatives based on the insights generated.
- Support the development of study design and research and evaluation tools, including research protocols, ethics applications, and standard operating procedures for the household survey;
- Assist the development of data collection management and analysis tools and templates, including survey tools, observation tools, interview tools, and databases;
- Steer the relationship with a third party data collection agency and supervise data collection at the household level, with focus on data quality
- Support the design and implementation of ongoing quality assurance measures for all electronic and paper data collection activities;
- Clean, manage, and analyze large data sets;
- Support the insight generation process and translation of insights into intervention design;
- Support the CHAI leadership in presenting study results to key stakeholders;
- Support the publication and dissemination of findings; and
- Other responsibilities as requested by supervisor
- Master's degree or PhD in a related field such as statistics, economics, epidemiology, monitoring and evaluation;
- 3-5 years of professional experience in demanding, results-oriented environments in the public sector and/or private sector;
- Experience leading field work for large scale household surveys, with preference for experience in India;Excellent problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills, including attention to detail and fluency in Microsoft Excel;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Strong command of English required, Tamil is an advantage;
- Strong communication skills, including development of compelling presentations with the ability to translate technical content and results into formats suitable for various audiences.
