The OEC: The Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC) is an international intergovernmental organisation, founded in January 2020 by countries from across the Global South, to “contribute to the equitable, just, and prosperous social transformation of societies by promoting balanced and inclusive education, in order to attain the fundamental rights to liberty, justice, dignity, sustainability, social cohesion, and material and immaterial security for the people of the world.
The main functions of the Department of SEED are, accordingly, to:
- Provide Technical support, from a systematic perspective, in order to build balanced and inclusive educational systems
- Provide technical support and institutional capacity building in the areas of systemic governance, curricula, teacher training and assessments
- Host and administer the OEC Institute of Training
Role Summary
Under the overall authority of the Secretary General, guidance of the USG, SEED and the direct supervision of the Chief of Section on Curricular Transformation , Pedagogy & Assessment, the Specialist , Endogenous Development would be responsible for Contributing working closely with other specialist in the activities of the Section on Curriculum Transformation , Pedagogy and Assessment by inputting around the integration of Endogenous Knowledge and Development in terms of developing tools, modules , frameworks , imparting trainings etc...
Duties:
• Develop frameworks and mechanisms for mainstreaming endogenous knowledge into education policy and practice.
• Provide technical assistance for integrating endogenous knowledge into educational practices and curriculum.
• Design and develop modules on Endogenous Knowledge and Development to train key professionals in member states.
• Contribute to the development of a balanced, inclusive education system diagnostic, monitoring, and evaluation tool that considers the perspective of Endogenous Knowledge & Development.
• Support the overall strategy and vision of the Curriculum Development, Pedagogy, and Assessment section of SEED.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Section, the USG-SEED.
Competencies:
• Demonstrated expertise and experience with endogenous knowledge and learning systems in the Global South.
• Demonstrated programmatic experience in endogenous knowledge and expertise in educational practices, assessment systems, outcomes, and issues in the Global South.
• Demonstrated understanding of contemporary debates, issues, and constraints in transdisciplinary knowledge systems.
• Demonstrated ability to provide training and support in the area of Endogenous Knowledge & Development.
• Demonstrated ability to systematise information and prepare executive reports.
• Political astuteness and the ability to work in a diverse and multicultural environment.
• Strong commitment to the mission and goals of the OEC.
• Ability to work effectively in a highly demanding environment.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively across different topics and themes.
Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in a relevant Social Science discipline.
- A minimum of five years of research, policy or practice experience beyond the doctoral degree.
This experience may be in a government institution /government department, a non-governmental organisation or in the private sector.
Language Requirements
Candidate must at least be fluent in English and French; Additional knowledge of one or more other official languages (Arabic, Spanish) will be treated as an asset.
