Know our team
Nutrition International (NI)’s Asia Region Corporate Services Unit comprises a team of experts that work closely with the Country Offices in the region and HQ in Ottawa. The primary mandate for the Corporate Services Unit is to provide leadership and support in corporate and program finance management, budget management, donor reporting, procurement, and office administration functions. The Finance Manager, Corporate Accounting Asia will work closely with the Regional Corporate Services Director, Asia to deliver on its mandate on all finance aspects at the region.
About you
You are someone who has sound technical and professional knowledge of finance and accounting and a high level of technical skills. You have an excellent ability to interpret and apply policy and procedures to accommodate new or unusual situations and can multitask and prioritize effectively. You are well-organized, flexible and enjoy the challenges and rewards of working in a diverse office environment.
You will have a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Financial Management, or other related fields from a recognized university with four years of progressive financial management experience required in an international NGO in accounting. Experience in administration and IT, working with contracts and grants management database will be added advantage. Prior staff supervisory experience and strong organizational skills are desired. Attention to detail, competent IT skills, and ability to work under pressure with an analytical and methodical approach. Knowledge of the Great Plains will be an added advantage.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
About the role
In this role you will be:
- Oversees the full accounting function; payroll and benefits accounts payable and accounts receivable, travel authorization, month-end process, and year-end schedules.
- Ensure the production of accurate and timely financial information including reviewing and approving journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis.
- Review of Cash flow projection for NI Asia.
- Follows up and investigates with bank officials regarding issues and wire traces for NI Asia as and when required.
- Facilitates additions or removal of signatories in the bank.
- Provides people leadership to the Corporate Accounting team including coaching, performance management, and development opportunities.
- Coordinates timely conduct of Statutory Audit for NI Asia.
- Prepares the statutory financial statements and final accounts for NI Asia Regional and India Country office.
- Ensuring all statutory compliances are adhered to in all countries as per local country laws.
- Work closely with the management to ensure all legal obligations relating to NI in India (incl The Micronutrient Nutrition Initiative India (MII) are complied with (in terms of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, Income Tax Department, etc)
- Lead in developing Annual Operating Expenditure (OPEX) Budgets for NI India and support other countries in developing their OPEX budgets.
- Ensuring quarterly variance is prepared for OPEX budgets and provides regular updates to management for India
- Manage information technology needs and helpdesk for Asia (viz. Liaise with HQ, IT, and local service providers for ensuring infrastructure and resources within the region, organizing training on basic corporate requirements: e.g. intranet access, etc)
- Work closely with Administration Assistant for all admin-related tasks in India.
- Support new office set-ups and relocations including negotiations with owners, drafting of leases, renovation, related procurement etc.
