The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a proactive and responsible consultant with high level of commitment and expertise to assist in Potato seed production with farmers under the project - Rapid Seed Potato Multiplication to Strengthen Potato Value Chain in Karnataka and Maharastra (the Project).
This consultant will be based at Hassan, Karnataka and coordinate directly with the Project Manager.
Expected duration and conditions:
- This is a fixed-term consultancy with the possibility of renewal.
- The payment is a fixed and consolidated fee.
Deliverables:
Monthly reports based on the following activities:
- Production of potato tissue culture plantlets
- Hardening of Tissue culture plantlets
- Capacity building of various stakeholders involved in the project
- Supporting ARC Nurseries
- Promoting Apical Rooted Cutting (ARC) for Potato seed production
- Assuring quality with seed production farmers
- Coordinating all the activities related to seed production
Qualifications/special skills
- Post-graduation in Agriculture/Horticulture - Experience of working in Tissue Culture - Experience of working in Agriculture related projects - Experience in Seed Production, Nursery Management, Tissue Culture - Fluency in English and Kannada languages
