Job Summary
The Analyst I, Data Protection, will assist in the roll out of the Data Protection roadmap across the agency and will have shared responsibility for improving the quality and managing the protection of CRS sensitive data and information assets. The position will focus on data protection systems configuration, projects coordinating, establishing and ensuring adherence to agency data protection framework, standards and practices, both at th e department, Business and Functional levels, to achieve the required level of Data consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs.
Working closely with the Senior Manager, Data protection and Information Security, the Analyst I, Data Protection will provide accurate, appropriate, timely and pragmatic data protection advice, striking a balance between legal/compliance requirements and the wider interests of the agency business.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
- Assist internal stakeholders in logging and managing their processing of personal data in accordance with existing Data Protection procedures
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new and existing processes, services, and applications
- Assist with overseeing and appropriately responding to internal/external audits of data protection processes and procedures
- Contribute to investigations into personal data breaches and infringements of privacy law and assist in the provision of remedial recommendations and actions
- Assist Information Owners with their responsibilities of complying with all relevant data protection laws, regulations, and policy
- Support the configuration and deployment of Data Protection management systems and processes automation across the agency
- Assist the Data Protection Team with ensuring Data Protection processes and procedures are adhered to
- Maintain the business information asset register and review on a regular basis
- Identify, assess, and mitigate data protection risks, working with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective actions
- Undertake regular reviews to ensure that data is protected, controls are in place and working and review privacy notices to ensure they remain up to date
- Escalate to the Senior Manager, Data Protection, and Information Security of unusual trends/ high risk observations
- Escalate to the Data Protection Team any suspected privacy incidents
- Work on Data Protection projects as directed by the Senior Manager, Data Protection, and Information Security
- Support CRS Business units in the safeguarding of personal data of program participants, donors, employees, and other constituents
- Assist the Data Protection Team in providing awareness and understanding of data protection responsibilities to all staff.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Protection or IT related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in the implementation of Data Protection systems, processes, and procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of data protection legislation
- Experience in law/legal, compliance or similar desirable
- Experience in completing Data Protection Impact Assessments
- Holding/working towards the CIPP/E or similar data protection certifications
- Hands-on experience of implementing data protection within organizations
- Ability to research and cross-reference data protection and related legislation and best practice in order to formulate appropriate advice and materials
- Experience in completing risk reviews/assessments and remediation management calling out and presenting key themes & trends for the business to assess and address.
- Awareness of the core concepts of information security, with an ability to understand the privacy aspects of technologies used to deliver CRS programming and services
- Technical (IT) knowledge would be useful
