Project Coordinator – India (Mumbai and Kolkata)

Seefar, in partnership with its local entity, The Ethical Recruitment Agency, is searching for two Project Coordinators; one in Mumbai and one in Kolkata. A Project Coordinator has responsibility for coordinating Seefar’s LIFT: Transformational Livelihoods for Survivors programme on the ground. You will recruit, train, supervise and lead a team under the guidance of senior leaders at Seefar. You will be the local face of the project, engage with stakeholders and enjoy being a valued member of the Seefar team. You will have demonstrated project management experience in the development sector; have thematic experience on, and a strong interest in, issues related to vulnerable groups; have management experience; be a natural communicator and always responsive; are results focussed; and have complete fluency in English.

This is a full time position, and travel to the project implementation site in Mumbai or Kolkata is required. Monthly salary range, depending on candidate’s experience = USD 425 – 475 (INR 32,000 – 35,700)**

You will be required to participate in an in-person training in Mumbai or Kolkata prior to the start of project activities. If this is not possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the training will be held online.

The following are the primary responsibilities of the role, with estimated allocations of time and attention.

DELIVER: PROJECT AND MISSION IMPLEMENTATION

  • Recruit, supervise and develop local teams.
  • Carry out HR and finance functions, including reporting, as established by supervisor and finance team.
  • Ensure logistical elements are in place at the training centre to meet project requirements.
  • Ensure the project targets are achieved or exceeded.
  • Deliver regular performance reports, and make yourself reachable during your working hours to your Supervisor.
  • Liaise with local stakeholders and the broader community of interest, and represent Seefar and TERA as required.
  • Act as a security focal point in the region and liaise with the Project Manager and Seefar’s Safety, Security and Resilience Advisor on any security developments in the region.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Safety, Security and Resilience Advisor in developing a robust TERA security framework.

Deliver: Lead Skills Coach and Mentor

  • Recruit, train, supervise, develop and lead local teams of freelance trainers and mentors.

    • Assist in the development of training curriculum and provide training to participants as required.
  • Provide pastoral care to team members.

  • Monitor the performance of your team, and provide regular and ad-hoc reports on the work, performance and progress to your Supervisor.

  • Develop project teams, including mentoring teams and assisting in recruitment.

An Excellent Candidate

We are looking for someone with:

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience, including coordinating projects and managing and developing teams in India
  • Hold an undergraduate degree
  • Fluent/Superior writing skills in English, Hindi, and either Marathi or Bengali
  • Based in Mumbai or Kolkata
  • Effective prioritisation and organisational skills, with an ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills and an ability to coordinate with teams and local stakeholders.
  • Expertise in one or more of Seefar’s themes (commercial sexual exploitation, gender-based violence, modern slavery, migration, security/justice)
