Job Summary:

FHI 360 seeks an experienced Social Behavior Communication Change (SBCC) Specialist for the CDC India: Accelerating Sustainability of Public Health Systems in India to Prevent, Detect, and Respond to Infectious Disease Outbreaks and Other Public Health Emergencies that will improve prevention of avoidable epidemics including naturally occurring outbreaks and intentional or accidental releases of dangerous pathogens, to improve ability to rapidly detect threats early, including detecting, characterizing, and to report emerging biological threats by responding rapidly and effectively to public health threats of international concern.

The candidate will work closely with the Program Director to design the implementation of demand generation activities. This includes producing content related to case detection, treatment-seeking behavior, and treatment adherence. Works with creative firms to produce designs and materials, and contributes to formative and other assessments, as needed to inform SBCC. The SBCC Specialist will actively work with the Technical Specialists and technical leads of partners assist with SBCC activity implementation and monitoring and addressing all supply/materials needs for all SBCC-related activities with consortium partners.

­­Please note that the position is contingent upon successful award of the project and the selection of the final applicant is subject to donor approval. The position will be based in New Delhi, India.

Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with SBCC program design, adaptation, implementation, and monitoring with program staff and technical experts in line with the project strategic plan.
  • Under direction of the Program Director, developing, pre-testing, and producing communication tools and job aids based on evidence-based theories and methodologies, in line with the SBCC strategy.
  • Coordinating with research firms, advertising agencies, public relations experts, production vendors, community mobilizers, and/or consultants hired by the project to assist with SBCC or community level work.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders and assisting with technical activities involving co-existing SBCC communications campaigns.
  • Assisting the project team with supervision of local contracts and monitoring of ongoing function and technical troubleshooting for integral services, such as mass media programming or health worker training.
  • Working with the M&E staff and the technical staff to monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of SBCC activities.
  • Assisting in documenting project results and impacts in various forms, including media stories, lessons learned, case studies, client satisfaction, and other areas, and contributing to regular quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Performing other duties as directed by the Program Director .

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters or equivalent degree in health communication, mass communications, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of SBCC or health communications experience with national reach.
  • Ability to translate technical material for programming through various media channels, including broadcast and mobile technology-based media.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team unit.
