Seeking a Communications Officer to lead ACIAR communications strategy
AVI (formally known as Australian Volunteers International) is an Australian not-for-profit international development agency. Since 1951, AVI has facilitated effective development outcomes working side by side with over 3,000 partner organisations, governments and community organisations in 89 developing countries. AVI is the contract holder for the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research’s (ACIAR) In-Country Communication Officer Network.
Our client, ACIAR, is an Australian Government agency, specialising in agricultural research-for-development. ACIAR brokers and funds research partnerships between Australian scientists and their counterparts in developing countries.
Working with the ACIAR India office, the Communications Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of the ACIAR communications strategy, and supports ACIAR in the region and its headquarters in Canberra in the development, publication, and promotion of communications products. A key focus of the role is to improve awareness and understanding of ACIAR, its mission and programs in the region (India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh) through communication content and product development to showcase ACIAR’s work.
You will have extensive experience working in development communications at a mid to senior level and hold tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Communications, Public Affairs, Social Sciences, International Relations or other discipline closely related to development and/or agriculture related work. You must have a demonstrated ability to develop content for a range of purposes, including general communication activities such as writing and editing information materials, social media, producing video content, event management, web-content and multimedia material. As a self-starter, you have the ability to work both autonomously and within a team. Your highly developed interpersonal and communication skills will serve you well, enabling you to liaise with diverse groups of stakeholders. Proficient use of written and verbal English is required, and fluency in local language is advantageous.
Positions are open to nationals and permanent residents with authority to live and work in India. Rates of pay are based on local labour standards.
